Beauty Begins On The Inside.

Beauty Begins On The Inside.

TRUST YOUR GUT. BEAUTY BEGINS ON THE INSIDE!

In order to treat the skin as best we can, we need to not only use effective products topically-but we also need to improve the way skin behaves from the inside out.  Think about this, in healthy skin-we have what is called the "acid mantle" or commonly referred to as "the barrier."  When the barrier is healthy, it does exactly that-prevents outside irritants and bacteria from getting into the skin.  It also means, that the beautiful-expensive products that you are using are having a tough time getting to where it matters within the skin.  Great skincare, such as the Environ moisturizing toner-can effect the pH of the skin temporarily so that your precious moisturizer (such as the AVST vitamin moisturizer) can get a little deeper within the skin.  Another great tool, is the cosmetic roller, that uses very tiny needles that create channels in the skin so that your serums and moisturizers can get right down to where it matters.  Where skin cell are formed at the base epidermal layer of the skin.  If you are doing all of that, then you are in great shape...but there is STILL MORE that can be done for gorgeous, healthy skin.

This is where proper supplements come in.  Because when a fibroblast, or baby skin cell, has the vitamins it needs to thwart off free radicals and invaders-then the skin looks and feels much better.  Some of the most important skin vitamins are vitamins A,C and E and antioxidants.  Another important skin supplement is Omega 3 & 6, which helps strengthen the cell membrane-which is important for the transfer of waste and nutrients within the cell to the extracellular fluid outside of the cell.

It is also extremely important to consider gut health when you are trying to clear up any skin conditions.  Acne and Rosacea are two common skin conditions that have a very strong connection to gut health.

ACNE:

Probiotics are one of those vitamins that are beneficial for all.  In our Irish diet, so often we are consuming processed foods or too much of one specific type of food (i.e. dairy, sugar, gluten) which leads to disruptions in the gut.  Add to that, antibiotics that are overprescribed and you are left with a gut imbalance that effects your energy, mood, digestion and the skin.  When we become constipated and stressed, those built up toxins are detoxified by the largest organ of detoxification...the skin.

Skin Accumaxx- this supplement is great for acne or breakout prone skin.  It is plentiful in Vitamins A, C, and E as well as a compound from Broccoli called diindolylmethane {DIIM}.  This compound is a natural hormone balancer, and it also reduces inflammation and oxidative stress in the skin.  Since acne takes about 3-4 months to heal, it is recommended that you do a consistent course with this beautiful alternative to harsh prescriptions.

ROSACEA, REDNESS, DRYNESS:

Probiotics help to soothe and restore the microbiome in the gut which aids in soothing skin conditions.  Here is some more information on the probiotic carried at Skin & Tonic.

Skin Omega-They play a crucial role in cell renewal throughout the body, including the skin. Because omega-3 is anti-inflammatory, all skin types can benefit from it, including dry, sensitive and acneic skin. Omega-3 also helps to increase hydration and overall smoothness.

Although some skin conditions benefit from one supplement over another, most of these skin supplements are good for all of us.  Its best to get a recommendation before purchasing a supplement .
